Euro 2012, which took place in Poland and Ukraine, was one of the best ever, and the Portuguese team went very far, losing only on penalties to eventual winners Spain in the semi-finals.

Then they beat the Netherlands and Denmark to advance to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, they met the Czech Republic, which they easily eliminated thanks to a goal by Ronaldo in the 79th minute. In the semifinals, the Portuguese lost the lottery of penalties after a hard-fought match against the future champions and neighbors Spain. We all remember Ronaldo's bitterness in this shirt at the end of the game, just after the penalty shootout, as he felt the team deserved to go through to the final.
